The Process Development Engineer safely provides ongoing support and solutions for both new product developments and strategic manufacturing support projects related to Performance Coatings.
This role offers an opportunity to draw insight from both manufacturing and commercial functions.

DUTIES &
Responsibilities:

  • Plans, analyzes, and safely executes small scale batches working with the pilot plant team in Avon Lake and a new pilot reactor system in China.
  • Fosters productive communication with pilot plant operations staff and leads by example in a coaching/mentoring environment.
  • Manages new product development projects from pilot to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Fosters professional relationships with business partners, including Sales and Marketing, Product Management, Synthesis, Applications, Procurement, and Technology Services.
  • Manages routine customer and supplier interactions while reinforcing Lubrizol s reputation and protecting intellectual property.
  • Leads technology transfer projects and provides process support for tolling activities.
  • Supports Performance Coatings UOI growth by practicing and advocating the use of business processes including pilot plant requests, Manufacturing Authorization (MA) process, Product and Portfolio Management Process (PPMP), and other related processes.
  • Actively participates in plant and corporate HSE initiatives including:
    Leader Standard Work (LSW), OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM), department safety meetings, and environmental initiatives.
  • Participates in root cause analysis and ad-hoc incident investigations where necessary.
  • Supports pilot line reliability improvements and commitment to continuous improvement principles by supporting and managing capital (CAPEX) improvements.
  • Continuously improves processes and capabilities by enhancing business workflow and improving process automation (Emerson DeltaV and OSIsoft PI data historian), using statistical analysis (DOE) and implementation of improved control strategies.
  • Organizes and leads multi-functional teams through influence and communicates/documents outcomes.
  • Supports global PCG manufacturing initiatives through process technology.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, &
Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
  • 2-5 years of manufacturing operations experience OR participation in the Lubrizol Co-Op program
  • Strong fundamental knowledge in chemical engineering principals and strong hands-on mechanical and chemical process engineering skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and presentation skills
  • Experience managing both internal and external customer expectations
  • Strong project management skills utilizing stage-gate systems and job aids
  • Knowledge of experimental design (DOE) and data analysis using fundamental statistical techniques and statistical software
  • Ability to work with others at all levels and in multiple locations within the organization

CONSIDERED A PLUS:

  • Prior experience with polymers and/or acrylic emulsions, as well as experience with process automation, pilot plants and/or the application of statistical analysis tools.
  • Experience with new product development, commercialization and scale-up
  • Knowledge of chemical and polymer unit operations, including process and equipment design
  • Knowledge of GMP processes
  • Knowledge and application of SAP enterprise software
  • Use of ASPEN process modeling software

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
